Abstract: | Ruggiero ricci (b. San Francisco), 24 July 1918) is American violinist. After studies with Persinger, he made his debuts at San Francisco (1928) and Carnegie Hall, New York (1929), playing the Mendelssohn cocenrto. Further studies with mIchel Piastro and Georg Kulenkampff were followed by a tour of Europe in 1932, when he visited London, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, Rome and Scandinavia with distinct success. He studied next with Paul Stassevicth (1933-7), as well as with Persinger again, and made the transition from prodigy to mature virtuoso without apparent difficulty, enventually specializing in the 19th-century bravura repertory. He as been widely acclaimed for the uncanny accuracy, ease and elegance of his playing, especially in demanding, extrovert challenges. He toured the USSR three times, made his playing, especially in demanding, appears regularly in the USA and Europe.
